How Much Does a Fishing Trip Cost in Gran Canaria?
· Fish On! crew
Short answer: a shared fishing trip in Gran Canaria costs around 100 to 120 € per person for a full day at sea, and a private charter for your whole group costs roughly 500 to 1,300 € depending on the hours and the type of fishing. At Fish On! a shared full day is 105 € per angler and a private trip goes from 600 € (4 hours) to 1,200 € (9 hours), with licence, tackle, bait, drinks and snacks included.

It is one of the first questions people ask us, by phone, on WhatsApp and at the pontoon. Prices for fishing in Gran Canaria look all over the place when you search online, because booking sites mix shared seats, private boats, short coastal trips and full big game days in the same list. This guide puts the numbers side by side so you can compare like with like before you book.
Fishing trip prices in Gran Canaria at a glance
These are the current prices on the Fish On! boat. They are the same on our website, on the phone with the AI assistant and when you talk to Captain Pedro.
| Trip | Duration | Price | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|
| Shared fishing, full day | 6 h (9:00 to 15:00) | 105 € per person | Solo anglers, couples, small groups on a budget |
| Private charter | 4 h (morning or afternoon) | 600 € whole boat | Families, a first taste of trolling or bottom fishing |
| Private bottom fishing | 6 h | 750 € whole boat | Children and beginners, calmer water near the reef |
| Private big game | 6 h | 800 € whole boat | Groups targeting blue marlin and tuna |
| Private full day | 9 h | 1,200 € whole boat | Serious anglers who want the most time on the marlin grounds |
Private prices are for the whole boat, from 1 to 10 people. Split between eight friends, a 6-hour private big game day works out at 100 € each, which is about the same as a shared seat.
Shared or private: which one is cheaper for you?
It depends on how many of you there are. A simple rule we give on the phone:
- One to four people: the shared trip is usually the cheaper option. Four shared seats cost 420 €, compared with 600 € for the shortest private trip.
- Five or six people: a private 4-hour trip (600 €) is already cheaper than six shared seats (630 €), and the boat is only yours.
- Seven to ten people: go private. A 6-hour big game trip for ten people is 80 € per person.
Keep in mind that a shared trip only goes out with a minimum of 4 anglers. Our booking calendar shows how many seats are still needed, and the captain confirms the day before. If it does not fill, you pick another day or get a full refund. A private trip goes out as long as the weather allows.
What is included in the price
On every Fish On! trip the price covers:
- The recreational fishing licence for everyone on board. You do not need to buy your own.
- Rods and reels, from light gear for bottom fishing up to Shimano Tiagra 30 to 130 lb for marlin.
- Lures, bait and ice.
- Water, soft drinks and snacks.
- Captain Pedro Betancor and the crew, with more than 25 years fishing the waters off the south of Gran Canaria.
Things that are not included: transport to the Port of Pasito Blanco (it is 10 minutes from Maspalomas and Meloneras by car or taxi), and food if you want a proper lunch on the full day.
How Gran Canaria prices compare with booking sites
If you have looked at international booking platforms, the numbers there can look much higher. Captain Experiences, for example, lists an average of about 1,400 US dollars for a half-day trip and about 2,100 dollars for a full day in Gran Canaria. FishingBooker shows an average of around 530 dollars for a private 4-hour trip and around 880 dollars for 8 hours from Pasito Blanco. Those averages mix very different boats and include platform fees.
Booking direct with the boat has two advantages. You pay the real price, with no service fee added at checkout, and you deal with the captain from the start, so questions about the weather, the season or children on board get a straight answer.
What makes a fishing trip more or less expensive
Distance to the fishing grounds
Fuel is the biggest cost on a sportfisher. From Pasito Blanco the seabed drops to deep marlin and tuna water in about 20 minutes, so more of the hours you pay for are spent fishing instead of travelling.
Type of fishing
Trolling for marlin and tuna means running the engines all day at trolling speed, so big game trips cost more than bottom fishing, where the boat drifts or anchors over the reef. That is why our private bottom fishing day is 750 € and the big game day is 800 €.
The boat and the tackle
A 35-foot sportfisher with a fighting chair, twin engines, radar and heavy tackle costs more to run than a small open boat. On a cheap coastal trip you will usually not have gear rated for a 300-kilo blue marlin.
Season
Summer is the busiest time, and the shared trips fill faster from June to September when the blue marlin are here. If you want a specific date in July or August, book a few weeks ahead. The price shown in the calendar for each day is the one you pay.
Fishing and accommodation packages
For private trips we can arrange accommodation three minutes' walk from the boat, with a minimum of 3 days fishing and 4 nights. Ask on WhatsApp or through the assistant and Pedro will send you a proposal with the total price.
Cancellation and payment
You pay online by card when you book, on Stripe's secure page, and you get an instant confirmation by email. Cancellation is free up to 48 hours before the trip. If the captain cancels because of the sea, you choose another date or a full refund. The full rules are in our booking conditions (in Spanish).
Frequently asked questions about fishing prices
How much is a fishing trip in Gran Canaria per person?
A shared full-day trip costs about 105 € per person on Fish On!, with everything included. On a private charter the price per person depends on the size of the group: 600 € for 4 hours split between six people is 100 € each.
Do children pay less?
On shared trips children pay the same as adults, because they take a seat on the boat. Children can come from 6 years old. With young kids, the private bottom fishing trip is the calmest and best value option.
Is a fishing licence extra?
No. The boat's licence covers everyone on board, so there is nothing else to buy.
Can we keep the fish?
Marlin are always released. With tuna and bottom fish the captain will tell you what can be kept on the day, following the local rules.
